Delete your CertPunch account
This page lets you request deletion of your CertPunch account and its associated CertPunch data without needing to download or reinstall the mobile app.
Request deletion
Email support@certpunch.com from the email address registered to your CertPunch account and use this subject line:
CertPunch Account Deletion Request
For your security, do not send passwords, access tokens, verification codes, or identity-provider tokens in a support request.
How we verify a request
CertPunch asks that the request be sent from the email address registered to the account. If necessary, we may request additional information to confirm the requester’s identity before processing the deletion. If your account uses an Apple private-relay address or you cannot send from the registered address, explain that in your message so we can provide an appropriate additional verification step.
We use a neutral initial response and do not disclose whether an email address belongs to an account before verification is complete.
What deletion covers
After verification, CertPunch deletes the account and the CertPunch data linked to it, including account profile data, sign-in identities, active sessions, study attempts, progress, preferences, and locally synchronized account data when the in-app deletion flow is used.
You can also delete the account directly in the CertPunch mobile app by opening Settings and choosing Delete Account. That option may be faster because it requires recent authentication in the app.
Timing and limited retention
We complete verified deletion requests within 30 calendar days after the requester’s identity is confirmed. The following limited records may remain for the periods stated here:
- deletion-request, verification, and support communications: up to 12 months, for auditing and legal-compliance purposes;
- an unlinkable deletion-evidence record that contains no deleted email address or provider subject: up to 730 days, as described in the Privacy Policy;
- deleted account data in encrypted backups: up to 90 days, before automatic removal through the backup lifecycle.
These limited records are not used to restore your deleted CertPunch account or study progress. If a legal obligation requires a longer retention period, we will explain that before completing the request where required by law.
Apple and Google sign-in
Deleting a CertPunch account does not delete your Apple Account or Google Account. CertPunch attempts to revoke the CertPunch authorisation issued by Apple when an Apple-linked account is deleted. You may also manage third-party authorisations in the provider’s account settings. Provider-account data held independently by Apple or Google is governed by that provider and is not deleted by CertPunch.
